Error reading OBD2
I have a OBD2 code reader that I've successfully used on my wife's Volvo, and several of my friends cars. But I can't get it to read my 03 6.0 PSD's OBD2 port. When I hit the 'read' button it tries for about a minute and then displays 'ERR'. I checked fuse #12 which I think is the 10amp OBD2 fuse and it looks good. Any ideas?

I'm yet to see a small code reader that will read diesels.

Possible your scanner won't pick up the codes. Seems some of the scanners won't work on the ford powerstrokess. Not sure why just that I have read that many times on here.

I'm definitely stumped on this one.

What brand is it?

I'm telling you.
99.99% of small hand held scanners will not read diesel codes. It's like when people say, my truck just wont run but autozone says I dont have any codes. Then the truck comes in and it has several codes in it there scanner wont read them.

Honestly, I forget the brand name of my scanner. I bought it at Napa or Autozone about a year ago for $80 bucks or so. It works great on my other vehicles. If I have to buy a 2nd code reader for the PSD that is ok because being able to read the codes and do the work myself is a big money saver for me. What make and model code reader can I get to read the PSD's codes?

scan tool
the cheapest one I have seen that will scan 6.0's "and this is what I have seen so its not gospel" is $800. Scott has a cornwell that will scan 7.3's that cost $250 but no go on the 6.0's. Gets expensive huh.

Wow, that's past my price range. I'll hunt around and if I find anything that works I'll post it.
Thanks! |

Is your truck OBD2 or is it CAN, some of the newer cars have a CAN and not the older OBD2
