Does a standard CEL reader read a diesel?

Hey guys I have a dealership in ohio with my cousin and we have a standard car CEL reader im just wondering will it read codes from a 6.0?

It might. It definitely won't read trans codes. But it definitely might read the obd2 codes.

Thats what i thought! Well at least if the dreaded 6uhoh CEL comes on i can atleast see what it is

Our trucks typically store codes with no light.

The reader needs to be able to read CAN.

Some older models of code readers do not.
