Sounds like an injector

Clearly and injector do something. Was it cold out? I hear you hit high idle, must be chilly....
Does it go away? Maybe a dose of rex ex. Assuming you have no codes. |

I have no codes. An injector? I just put a bottle of lucas Diesel fuel treatment in it. Its about 40 degrees, maybe a little colder. We are on the verge of the first snow here in VT, and repairs seems feudal once the snow hits. Thanks for the input. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it as a newbie. What is Rex Ex? I am going to research it, but I assume its a fuel additive!
Thanks Again, |

Which noise? Just kidding
![]() Does it go away once it's warmed up? RevEx goes in the engine oil and works pretty well for stiction if you catch it early. |

Yes it goes away once its warm. Stiction? oh Jesus, WTF is that. I am researching. Again thanks for the help.

It might help your research if you get the right name, RevX.
Yes, it's a good thing to try if you're having a stiction problem. The first thing to do is change the oil and use a synthetic 5w40 diesel oil such as Shell Rotella T6, Walmart has it for $21 a gallon. You need 15 quarts. You can get the Motorcraft filter there also, but for next time order a few (and fuel filter kits too) from dieselfiltersonline.com Get the Racor brand, that's what's actually in the Motorcraft box. If Walmart doesn't have the Motorcraft, I'm told the Fram is the same Racor filter for this truck. You can order a Ford oil filter cap from them for about the price of a filter also. You want to make sure the cap you use is the Ford cap. If some previous owner used certain aftermarket filters, they may have used the new cap that came with it and threw out your Ford cap. You don't want to use that cap, if that's the case. There are threads with pictures to help you tell what you have either here or on one of the other three forums (that I know of). There's a lot to learn about your new truck. Don't buy parts until you research here. There are a lot of common mistakes you can avoid if you read first. There's a lot you can and should do yourself. Congrats! Get learning...

First of all if your having problems this early on after buying this truck than you need to take it back and either demand that they fix it or give you your money back. That said if you try to tackle this yourself it does sound like and injector knocking. Archoil 9100 is a great alternative to Rev-X as it is basically the same thing only half the price. Try that along with switching to a full synthetic oil. You need to get a monitor on that truck ASAP as you have no other means of trying to determine any problems.
