turbo inlet leaking-

Guys this seems so easy but its kickn my azz. On the inlet side of the exhaust comin into the turbo I can not for the life of me get that to seal. And man is it killin my power. Wondering if anybody has any great tips? Was their a metal seal in their like on the egr? Thanks

Well, try loosening the turbo mounting bolts and attaching a ratchet strap to the Y pipe, and find a place solid to hook it to. Then ratchet it together.

And, no , there was not a metal gasket on mine.

NOOOOOOOO!!!! ratchet straps!!!!

ok so this is what you gotta do:

loosen the clamp at the turbo and remove it completely so you can see the joint.
crawl underneath and loosen the connection at the driver and passenger up pipes (at manifold).
go back up top and now you can get a good seal.
put the clamp back on and LIGHTLY tighten.
Now go back underneath and start to lightly tighten each side.
go back up top and tighten the clamp
go back underneath and send those bolts home.

This should do it, never use ratchet straps or pry bars. This is how you crack the bellows and then you have to replace the whole y-pipe assembly.

I think this happens because over time the expansion and contraction cause the y-pipe to warp one way or the other.

Okay so I took the above advice, unbolted the down pipe (for room) and unbolted both sides of the Y pipe. I did get the inlet to seal I think but the EGR flange is leaking and just as I was able to tell that it started to rain so maybe tommorow....But I will say 1 or 2 little leaks and that turbo aint nothin but a paper weight!

Great success! I now have a whistle sound comin out the tail pipe and not out of the back of the motor! Finnally had to loosin all the bolts and juz take my time.

yeah it sucks!

You gotta get that EGR fully deleted now, LOL!

no prob for the help, I did the same thing when I did my EGR delete and actually broke the mormans clamp (turbo clamp) and yeah no one was open on sunday at the time.

Just a couple of weeks ago I cleaned my turbo and it came out really easy but puttin it back in kinda sucked. I really do think those bellows warp with heat and can be a pain to work with.

Of course when I did it all the manifold bolts were seized and ended up cutting them, ohhhhhh what a pain that EGR delete was, lol

I kinda wonder if going with the egr delete would of been the way to go. But after talking to the guys at Bullet Proof Diesel they discussed the good and bad of both and I went with their upgraded unit. So I guess its another only time will tell. But I do know looking at the stock and looking at BPD's their was a big diffrence.

I would of gone deleted!!!!!!!!!

They are just trying to sell you stuff. The EGR cooler in the 6.0 is ONE of the MAIN reasons the 6.0 got a bad rap.
