Tune/Replace EGR

If you get a tune that turns off your EGR valve, is there any benefit of upgrading your EGR cooler? I want to replace my (future trucks) oil cooler and EGR cooler, but if a tune makes that uneccesary then I wouldn't do it. Thank you

Yes, you still need to upgrade because even with the EGR valve closed, hot exhaust still gets to the EGR cooler which can overheat and crack it.

Also if your oil cooler gets plugged up, then not enough coolant will circulate through the EGR cooler also making it very succeptable to cracking!

The factory EGR cooler is very thin and weak, so as long as it is still hooked up on your truck it is the "Weak Link" in your engine!!!

If you are going to tune the EGR to stop it's function, you might as well also delete EGR cooler.
