Need some advice for towing 13K
I have had my 05 for 2 years now and have only towed my 5K boat around with it. I just bought an 8K 5th wheel and I am going to tow the boat behind it for a total of 13K. I have a stock 05 CC 4x4 SB with 61K on it. I have been running an edge insight for the two years on the tow tune and have been very happy with it. I towed the 5th this weekend for the first time and although the truck did great I was a little concerned about the EGTs. The truck had tons of power towing the trialer but I could not use much of the power because the EGTs would get so high so fast. It was running about 1100 on flat ground doing 62mph into a head wind and 14psi. On one grade the EOT got up to 225 and the TFT got up to 180 but both were normal on the flat ground. Will adding 4" turbo back exhaust help with the EGTs? Is this pretty normal for an 8K pull on a 90 deg day? I just ant to make sure I get dialed in before I stick another 5K behind the 5th. Using 5-40 t6.

I would go back to stock tuning, sell the edge and get custom tuning with the SCT. You can also keep the edge and only use it for gauges.
Since you just hit 60,000 miles, did you service the transmision? |

I tow a 7300+ dry wt tt with my 05. Opinion of max egt seems to 1250-1350. I only get close to 1250 when pulling hard in OD. My eot has been that high when pulling, but only when ect is also high. My fan clutch does'nt engage until around 216. 4" exhaust would definitely lower egt, also look at intake elbow to get more cool air in. I have 4" cat back w/cat gutted. Running SCT 65hp tow canned tune.
