Could be the perfect tow tune combnaton!
Well I have been swapping around tunes and playing with my PHP fcm programmer since I got it! These are just some of my observatons on the combo!
The best daily driving tune that I seem to like is the Truck Source diesel SPD+ with the Atlas 80 ficm tune. I tried the Hercules ficm tune but couldnt really tell a difference and my truck just seemed to hit all the marks wth Atlas 80 and SPD+.
Here is a shocker! I have been trying to find a good towing tune as I haul HotShot about once a week!
Well I had to go and pick up my buddies broke down Dodge ( I have pics) so i just returned truck to stock and loaded Atlas 40. Well my buddy got to draggin around so I went ahead and loaded the old Spartan Free Heavy Tow tune in since I wasnt going about 40 miles! Well on the way I looked at my dummy overhead fuel gauge and I was getting about 17.5 MPG towing his megacab 3500!
I was thinking it is just working its way down to whatever I am gonna get! So I get home after I unhook fro the trailer and it is showing 18.5.
Well just to be sure I had to go on a 200 mile one way trip to pick up a new trailer. It is a 30' PJ weighing in at about 7K. I reset my overhead monitor and filled up so I could check dummy gauge( which has always been witin 0.2MPG.
I get home with the trailer and I am getting 17.7 MPG towing! I really like this combo and the truck must to cause it runs alot quieter on the lower HP tunes! Getting my EGT probe next week for the PHP FICM monitor so I can use it for all gauges!
I am running this combo now everday and do not worry about swapping tunes if I have to tow! And the MPG is awesome!
You guys try it and let me know what ya'lls is doing!
