Metal in coolant filter

Just cut open my coolant filter and there was a bunch of the slime looking stuff but also some grit that fell to the bottom of the filter. Used and magnet and it is definitly metal--enough to cover the 1\2" tip of the mag. Truck just had new oil cooler, studs, one head machined, one head new, egr delete, and filters put on--this is the first filter with about 5000 miles on it.

Do you think the machine shop didn't clean up the head good after they surfaced it, or is something in the water pump letting go? Thanks

Is it shiny metal or is it rust? Anyway that's why you run a coolant filter. It gets that crap out of the system.

Water pump area is mostly aluminum, if it was from the pump, water would be leaking on the ground. Imo. I wouldnt worry.

Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get.
