Thinking of buying a 6.0... Question

I'm going to look at a 2005 6.0 lariat with 117,000 miles on it. This would be my first diesel but I have a pretty good knowledge of basic diesel work. I've heard all the horror stories of the 6.0's but I've also heard some great things. Is it safe to buy one with 117k miles on it and expect it to last awhile? I heard the 03-04 6.0's were the bad ones, not so much the 05-07's... Any thoughts? Or things to look for on the truck?
