Advice on buying a 6.0
I found a 6.0 I like for a pretty good deal just wondering peoples opinions on the truck. it is a 2005 has a SCT programmer, 5 inch exhaust, bulletproof egr and oil cooler, black onix headgasket and arp headstuds torqued to 205 pounds.
It has 209K miles on it. is this to many miles to be looking at for a 6.0 and what should i be looking for when i go to look at and drive it. |

At that cost, roll the dice on it. Worse case drop a lower mileage motor in it when the time comes.
The BO/VR Gaskets are going to become a problem (unless that's the reason for the PO getting rid of her in the first place). But I'd address it, when that time comes. If the truck ends up being a complete lemon, you can part that sucker out and reclaim your $7500, and have cash to pocket as well. i just bought an 05 with 205k on it crew cab 4x4 love it can't tell its been drove alot. love it tons no regrets

I can tell you that my personal experience is the BO head gaskets are junk! I just did a head gasket job that had head studs,new ford heads and the BO gaskets were used. My mechanic said I was the 5th person this year he had seen with BO gaskets that had failed. Needless to say after getting my heads checked I used the ford OEM gaskets with new studs.So just be prepared to drop around 3k sometime or maybe you will luck out and not have to fudge with them. Either way enjoy your new rig!!!!
