DOES ALL 6.0 USE THE SAME ALTERNATOR BRACKET?
Hi.
I want to know if I can use a 160+ AMP large case alternator in a '07 6.0 King Ranch instead the crappy stock 110 AMP short case unit (single alt system). There are short case 110 AMP crappy stock alternators, and 160+ AMP large case for older 6.0 and 7.3 models. I will like to know whether or not I can just fit the large case in without trouble or mechanical modification. The small case is crap and can't keep up with the fog lights. If any modification must be performed in order to achieve an optimum installment with the long case, please let me know what most be done. Additionally, it will be great if someone could recommend a good seller / Product. Thanks for any help. |

Well...the bracket is the part of the intake manifold....they all mount the same as far as I can tell.

If you're going with an aftermarket alternator, you won't have to worry about it. Just tell them you want one that's a direct bolt on for your 07. As far as companies, buy a DC Power if you want the best.

Most sellers tell me that alternator fitment for '07 6.0's (single alt') is different than that in earlier 6.0's. I know this engine fairly well and as far as I understand all 6.0's should share the same bracket (intake). I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing some key detail or unexpected feature in this later version (the last 6.0).
What about 7.3's? Are they the same fitment as 6.0's? So, you guys think that it will be OK if I just get a 160+ AMP large case alternator (single alt' system) for earlier 6.0's and plug it in? No surprises? |

Not sure if the 7.3 is different than the 6.0, but I'd have to imagine it is.
Depending on how many amps your new alternator is, you'll have to upgrade some wires to handle the additional current. And a large case should bolt directly on. You have a link to the alternator you're considering? |

I guess sellers are just sticking to the manual, I will be really surprised if there where 2 different fitments for 6.0's.
I'm getting this one: NEW ALTERNATOR HIGH OUTPUT 200 Amp 6.0L FORD F TRUCK 03 04 05 06 & E VAN DUAL | eBay I will also confection my own 200 AMP fused wiring upgrade with material that I already have on hand. Thank you guys for your help, it was very useful. Wish me luck. |

Good luck! That's the same one I just bought that was bad right out of the box. Their customer service was great, but I lost additional time and money trying to track down the problem.
