Banks on the fly or not

I have a banks on the fly tuner and have read that they are not very good and can be hard on the torque fight tranny. I also have a hyper tech tuner also and was wondering if costume tune can be programmed into it.Any opine would be great.

You will find that this forum is a majority Banks hate group....ha ha....what you have to do with the Banks is when you change settings you must learn the tranny of the new power. This must be done for each setting increase. If you are patient the tranny will learn the power increase, but you must be careful when putting power to the tranny.

Not so much a "Banks Hate", just their tuning SUCKS for the 6.0!!

Stay away from any "shift on the fly" tuners!! You increase the power to the motor, but the trans will suffer a short life!!

Our trans has electronic solenoids, which is controlled by the TCM (Tran control module), when you add power to the motor, "shift on the fly" tuners don't tune the trans to accept the added power. What happens is, the extra stress to the trans ends up causing damage.

I don't see it as a "Banks Hate" crowd. Simply put, the investment in proper tuning, far outweighs the cost of a rebuilt transmission from not tuning the 5R110 with shift-on-the-fly tuners.

I would rather have a custom SCT file, with transmission tuning. Use the 5R110's relearn protocol for its intended purpose - to adjust to the individual truck and driver, and not adapt to every power band change ranging from 300 to 450RWHP.

Just my opinion, get the SCT X3 or SF3 with custom files, and the Insight for monitoring. Most reliable setup, in my opinion, on the 6.0L with an owner who wants the truck to last.
