Hood liner?

Hi guys, I just bought a 07 F350 and I noticed that it doesn't have a factory hoodliner just bare metal on top of that hot engine/turbo.
I figure that this can't be very good for the paint and I also wouldn't mind the sound insulation that a hoodliner would provide.

I can't believe that this truck that has every possible option did not come with a hoodliner...
Have any of you bought a Ford hoodliner and installed it? If so, how much was it? Are there aftermarket hoodliners out there that are quality and fit like they should?

Thanks, I'm new to the Ford diesel so any help will be great.

Just get a hood liner from a 2003...in 05 i think they stopped putting them on there...A lot of people have had these complaints also...it makes a world of a difference with a hood liner(i dont have one but have heard peoples trucks with them)

Tonight, I just installed a Dynamat Hoodliner ($69.95 through Summit Racing) and it installed pretty easy except I have to figure out what to do with the hoodlight now. I didn't even crank it but I will tomorrow and let you guys know how much of a difference it made.

My 04 came with one but I know of other folks' whose 04s that did not and have tried to "borrow" mine. LOL It has to be better with one than without.

Was this a precut deal or did you trim it yourself?

I would have thought that it would have been a feature on the King Ranch's at least. Let us know if you notice a sound difference. I'm certain your paint will thank you in the long run. Maybe Ford just wanted to make the entire hood a giant heatsink for the 6.0?!?!

It was precut rectangular piece that covered the majority of the hood. It seems like a good fit to me.

Okay, finally just got a chance to crank it and drive big blue around. It definately tones the sound down. When I crank it up cold, there's more noise until things warm up but the hood liner did away with that. I also noticed a difference with the windows down so it must be absorbing sound, not just reflecting it away from the hood/cabin. My only fear is that I won't hear that beautiful turbo whistle as much. Can that be piped through the speakers??

Does anyone know how much the factory liners go for?
