Oil cooler change while EGR delete?
'04 6.0 98k
I'm trying to decide whether to have the shop that's going to do my EGR delete change out oil coolers while they've got it open. I'm currently having no problems (ECT and EOT delta is less than 15) however EGR valve was a little gummy and I noticed some dampness in the intake. It's free labor, I've just got to buy the part. Any opinions guys? Thanks in advance. |

Go ahead and do it!
You won't regret it because it WILL eventually need to be replaced and then you will have to pay for labor all over again. Just make sure to flush your cooling system and switch over to a CAT EC-1 rated ELC coolant so it wont clog up again. Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app |

Any time you tear the motor down for one, you should do the other. (Until you solve your EGR cooler).
Have the oil cooler replaced/rebuilt, while its in there. |

Thanks guys, I figured as much. I have changed over to the CAT ELC so we are good to go there. I'm considering adding an SCT programmer, I've got the aftermarket exhaust already, once I do oil cooler and EGR delete, I should be safe, correct?

Thanks! I've just got the cat and muffler cut out now, with the top half of the motor off I bet itd be cheap to do a turboback exhaust.
