How long?

How long do you guys let your motor cool before shutting down? Is there a specific EGT the truck should be at before turning off?

I go by temp, as do most people. I get it under 400*, but some prefer 350*. I'd do 350, if my truck would allow it within 10 minutes, LOL

Thanks for your service

I have a turbo timer and the recommended EGT setting is 350* for shutdown. It kind of depends on the reason your letting it cool down but to help save the bearings in the turbo the egt should be 350* or less at shutdown.

It depends on where your EGT probe is ........ (pre or post turbo)
350 is post turbo.

I shut mine down at 350 and I'm pre turbo. I'm sure the turbo appreciates it.

The turbo can retain heat so the exhaust gas temp can actually be higher post turbo for awhile .........

As you know, the objective is to get the turbo bearings to 350.

Appreciate all the responses. I have typically been waiting until 400*. Guess I need to give it a few more minutes.
