04 powerstroke trans fluid?

Im getting ready to service my transmission and was wondering how many quarts does it take? And what would be my best choice in fluid?

cant answer the amount that should be in the owners manual. Can tell you that the correct fluid is a dealer item. I needed some for my last trip and none of the auto stores carry the stuff! Had to stop at dealer on way out of town, price was comparable to what the auto stores wanted for theirs. The books will tell ya NOT to mix with mercon or dextron or others.

Dont know the amount but if you have an Oreilly close by they can get it! The part number is merconsp or mercon-sp! Cant remember which! They usually dont know they can till they run the part number! I done bout a couple of cases from different Oreilly stores! It is alot cheaper there than the Ford Place!

mercon sp... but ford has a new updated oil called "LV" which is sp but giving a new name... Torqshift takes 8 quarts only if dropping th epan and changing both filters.. Just changed mine... Word to the wise.. You might need to take a butane torch to heat up the "toilet paper roll" filter.. The aluminum housing is tight on there and need a little heat to expand the metal and get it loose... Do not use an impact gun as you will brake the bracket is that cost 300 bucks or so...
