I am going to try and say this as nice as i can....

If this is your first diesel then i would say maybe not, it may turn you off to a diesel for the rest of your life. If you have always driven hondas and other gas motors then know this before you even buy a diesel. They are extra work, they are not just get in and go vehicles.

Feel free to spend 30 minutes reading throughout this site, you will learn a lot. Maybe a diesel is for you, maybe its not. Good luck with whatever you choose. For me, I love my truck and people with that exact question you asked drove the price way down for me so thanks for the rumors you heard i saved thousands. And welcome to the ORG if you stay.

I promise you will receive some very strong opinions on this, both supporting the 6.0 and against the 6.0.

A couple of interesting (and entertaining) reads:

Amazed at the difference in forums for these 6.0L's

Start here, and learn everything you can before you make a purchase in a 6.0L. Don't buy someone's problem truck and do the required maintanance and monitor and you won't have an issue. The 6.0L was my first diesel, purchased new, and ordered from the factory. I've never looked back.

Write Up: Monitoring the 6.0L PSD.
Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD.

Belly buttons and opinions....... anyway, I have one. Wasted some cash on it but was less than a new 6.4 when I got mine....

I like mine. I will keep it.

I would say dont waste your money. Please spread the word on how crappy and terrible the 6.0 is so people dont want anything to do with them. That way they get cheaper and cheaper so I can afford to buy more of em.
