Oil cooler replacement was going good until....
I am mostly just venting here but WTF!! About 6 hours later I was ready to install the new cooler when I saw a crack in my oil cooler cover. Mot sure if it was there before I removed it but it pretty much messed my night up as I was planning on finishing this thing tonight. I am just hoping Ford has the cover in stock tomorrow morning.

Sounds like some of my kind of luck dude. That really sucks. Ford should have one in stock. Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks man. What really pisses me off is that I believe for the price of the cooler it should come with everything already together and ready to be installed into the truck especially with how common these things are to fail.

You can buy a good used cover on eBay for about $60! I know you hate to wait but I bet it will be salty at the dealer! I broke a lil piece on mine putting it together in the cold and it was like $79 at the dealer and the closest dealer to me that stocked it was about an hour away!

You CAN buy the entire part all together. Ford offers the rebuild kit to save a little coin, as the covers are usually just fine, BECAUSE of how often they fail. If the cooler was replaced once before then the cover was tightened down too hard, that is usually the only reason they crack... Follow the torque specs! |
