New 6.0 Owner
Hello all, I just bought my first diesel two days ago. I am home from Afghanistan for about two weeks and couldn't resist. I will be going back for a couple of months to make my to do list and then I will be getting to work.
This is my first diesel so I'm sure that all of you will be getting to know me pretty well soon enough. |

Congrats man. Read up on here on what to look for as far as preventative measures and what not. We're you able to get some diagnostics on the truck like the EOT and ECT's before purchasing? If these acronyms are foreign to you, you're a little behind the power curve and have some reading to do. Use the google search (top left of your browser window) and browse the 6.0 specific forums to get caught up. Congrats again and welcome to the forums bud.

No I didn't. I got on here after the purchase. I have a few friends that have diesels and they gave me a quick run through. I wish I ran across this forum sooner. But, oh well. I'm loving it so far and I will get to work on it as soon as I get back for good.
Any advice for running it up here in AK? |

Make sure you do either an egr delete or egr cooler upgrade from bulletproof diesel, and tunes should turn that pesky egr valve off. Coolent filtration setup, ARP head studs, and maybe upgraded oil cooler if you got the extra cash, those are the major problems, but at the very least take care of the egr. I havent done head studs but im not making a ton of power either, i have truck source diesels street tune for non studded trucks...
