Runnin rough need some assistance

Hello, Started running rough today (like a gas motor not firing on a cylinder) and there is alot of black smoke if I put my foot into it.

Im thinking injector.

What are your thoughts and what is your guidance?

Thank you

Just checked it at Schucks with their OBD and there are no codes at all. How do I check voltage at the FCM?

To read FICM volts, either a monitor scan tool OR you can use a multimeter. Even with good readings, the FICM can still be bad/weak.

The rough running "comes and goes" but it blows black smoke all the time.

Have you checked your CAC boots for cracks/holes. Also check the flex joints on the up-pipe and y-pipe. You can also check for IC damage, and if you have the plastic CAC piping on the cold side.

I need to let it cool off and check my voltage tomorrow; I just gave the guy down the street a jump start and it didnt want to start. I am betting on the FICM.

Weak Batteries can cause issues also. It's best to be sure your batteries are working correctly before testing FICM.

Ok I did the voltage test and i have 48 on the key and 48 running. So I pulled the EGR while I was in the neighborhood and cleaned it. The truck runs alot better but it is still blowing black smoke and a lot of it. Your thoughts please.
