Smoke on stock tune

My buddys truck (2007 6.0L) seems all stock. Has an EGR and a cat and muffler. But when he gooses it you can see a slight haze of smoke. It is not rolling coal at all but it definitely blows a little black smoke. Does this mean that its tuned? Is there any way to check for a tuner? A completely stock truck cant blow smoke can it?

you from AZ? just wonderin. Anyways, I tried my sct on the wifes 03 6.0 just to see how it would act with no mods and it rolled coal like no other. took the tuner back off, no smoke at all. It may be tuned. Never seen a stock 6.0 have any smoke. but it make just be me...

If I put mine back to stock it will smoke. I actually get a pretty good cloud if I stab it from a dead stop. It cleans up once the turbo lights, but it definately smokes. Granted I do have a straight pipe with no cat. Regardless I have a couple of friends with 6.0's and they smoked a little when they were bone stock. Nothing to worry about at all and I doubt you are tuned, you would know if you were.

before i went straight piped, my smoked a little with no tune it when i really romped on it. when i took the stock system off there was a ton of soot just sittin in it. it could be that when he opens it up its blowin all that gunk out along with the normal soot the engine makes.

I just bought my 6.0L with the same issue. It smokes if I free rev it or get on it to pass someone on the freeway. When the turbo kicks in it cleans up only problem I'm kinda worried of not passing emissions. Do you guys think its worth trying to reflash the ECM ?
