High output alternator

I've search the forums, but can't seem to find enough information on upgrading my alternator to an h/o one. Was thinking about a dc power alternator. Can anyone link any threads comparing different manufacturers or suggestions? I do not have crazy electrical demands, but since my alternator is failing i want a decent replacement.

Thanks!

Can't find the threads right now, but I highly recommend DCPower. Personally, I wouldn't do DB ELectric or AlternatorParts.

Can you explain why you would not recommend them

I had a 200a unit from AlternatorParts and was very happy with it, right up until it died last week (27 months old). I figured I'd give DB Electrical a try since so many people said they "were the best" and ordered a 220a unit from them. Dead right out of the box. It's currently back in that same box sitting on my front porch waiting for FedEx to pick it up. I'm considering asking for a refund and buying one from DC Power rather than waiting for this one to get returned, fixed, and shipped back.

DC Power seems like a decent pick, but they are awfully high. I went through their website- seems like most of their parts are American made which I like, but damn they seem high. They boast a new hairpin stator with a partnership with DENSO, but you only get that on the $600.00 XP models. For that price I can buy a few alternators throw them in the tool box and wait for one to go out. Even the cheaper models are mid-400s.

Heavy duty rectifiers, high output at idle, good performance even when hot (all alternators output will drop as it heats up).

My 2001 s10 had a 200 amp Alt from DB Electrical. I really liked teh price on it, $215 shipped. It was better than teh rebuilt stock alternator that got beefer up to 130 amps. With teh Alternator from DB, at start up it would charge at 15 volts, after it warmed up it charged at 13.9-14.1 . It also came with an overdrive pulley. I hav 0/2 cables from +battery to +alt, -engine to -frame,and - frame to - battery. Every once in a while teh alternator would stop charging for about 1 second and then continue to charge. IDK if id want a DB electrical in my F250. Imma try DC power

I bought one from DC yesterday. They're having a big 4th of July sale next week and I got the early bird special.
