You got to have it flashed. I'd suggest a call to PHP. What year is your truck??

you will need it flashed either by Bill@php if you want a older non inferred ECM strategy. Or you can have a ford dealer install and flash it to get the lastest strategy BUT BUT the down side to this is not as much the ecm strategy as it is the updated FICM code you will get. If you go with the Ford option just be ready to buy a FICM flasher if you don't already have one.

What if your not worried what strategy it has on it because a tuned will change it if you want them too right

its a 2005 so i must get it flashed to run right? because my cousin who is a mechanic said i should just be able to plug it right in, if its for the same year and serial number. dont really want to get it flashed just put in my new ficm and have tunes from matt already.

Well if you already have it I would try it and see what happens

I recall the 2005 to have the digital odometer so the VIN needs to be set as well. Bill at PHP is your best bet and investment for this procedure over Ford.
