NEED ADVICE / OPINIONS
Hey Guys,
I am new to the Diesel world and just bought a 2006 F250 FX4 w/ 116k down in Florida( I am from NJ). After reading alot on the forums, I am alittle concerned with the long journey back to NJ from FL. So I had a Ford dealer and independent shop look the truck over. No major issues were found by either ( just a #2 glow plug that was replaced) and some front end work. Are there any precautions, additional checks I should make before the drive back? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Last edited by 06pwrstrk; 06-16-2012 at 02:24 PM. |

Howdy, and welcome to the ORG.
If the dealer did a thorough check, and verified the condition of the EGR cooler and oil cooler, you shouldn't have an issue bringing it back to NJ. When you can, however, get yourself a monitor like an Edge Insight CS or CTS. Reason for this, is the factory dash on the 6.0L will not inform you of any issues before damage is already done. The Insight can, and has kept me from being stranded more than once. That monitor, whichever you end up going with, is the only Modification every 6.0L owner needs in the truck. Start learning about what the motors shortfalls are, their symptoms, and how to prevent them. I have a thread I'll link to get you started: Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD. Don't let the reputation scare you from enjoying the truck, at 90K my '07 is still strong and I wouldn't trade it for any truck on the road. |
