bypass oil filter...

How important is a bypass oil filter? I have an 05 X that i am getting ready to install a sinister coolant filter and i saw a pic of an NUC oil filter mount along side the coolant filter on a really nice bracket. I am tempted to get the bracket, but wanted to know if I should get the bypass oil filter as well.

The only thing more important than an oil bypass filter is removing the Ford Gold coolant and running ELC.

I'm also interested in this (kinda) But I will step out on a limb and say, I do not see everyone saying to get one like they talk about ELC coolant, Synthetic oil, Coolant filter, Monitor, and Fuel pressure...


I will not have one on my truck for a while... atleast

Thanks Eli, i got the Edge insight cts on and love it. i actually called NUC and bought just the mounting bracket and will use it to mount my sinister coolant filter. my deltas are running 4-6*. i plan on doing a coolant flush and install the coolant filter this weekend. would you just flush with water or use some Restore? Suggestions on coolant?

I have one on mine and oil analysis confirms, it's awesome for keeping clean oil. I wouldn't use it for extending drain intervals in the 6.0 though as oil sheer is high. I still change mine at 5K and the additional filtration is awesome.

Are you still running gold?

I would install your coolant filter and drive for 2-4k miles before doing anything else. Your temps look good

yes i still have the gold in. are you saying that i should install the coolant filter and leave the gold in for 2-4K miles and then switch to a ELC/flush or switch to the ELC now and do a flush at 2-4K miles?

Clean that system before flushing all that crap into your oil cooler!
