Where did you find a leftover 07? I looked for a month trying to find one. I called at least 100 dealers, and one big dealer did a regional search and could find nothing. Congrats on finding one.

You're golden with the 07s. They fixed all the major problems with the 6.0s in the 05 model year. I was just like you--really gun shy after reading all the horror stories about the 6.0s. After a lot of research, I feel pretty good about buying my 06. You can still pop a head gasket if you go crazy with tunes, but the risk is much smaller than with the earlier 6.0s that commonly blew gaskets stock.

I'm definitely no Diesel expert. I've only had my truck a couple months, but I use OEM Motorcraft filters and Rotella oil. I hear Amsoil is awesome, but man it's expensive. I'd rather stick with a 5K oil change and run the $8.88 a gallon Walmart Rotella.

install a coolant filter. change fuel filters every 15k. If you do a lot of in town driving change the oil every 4-5k cuz I guess fuel can get into the oil easier that way. 7.5k if you do a lot of freeway driving. I use 15w-40 delo bought from costco and all oem/motorcraft filters no matter what. Marc recommends draining the hfcm every 30 days.

i got 11k on my 07 , only problem i had was the driveshaft seal leaked on the front axle , ford fixed it on warranty. just let the dealer service yer truck with oil changes / fuel filter to be on the safe side just in case something goes wrong u dont want the dealer to try to bamboozzel you out the warranty.

I agree with you...on the oil changes but it can get costly.... my dealer wants $140 for just an oil change... I refuse to go to the quick lubes..
