Castrol Diesel oil ??
Looking at all conventional 15w-40 Diesel oil that's readily avail and noticed Castrol tection extra. I have not heard many people talk about it... has anyone tried it? On their website they speak of it in very technical terms and show test graphs etc. and you know what base stock they started with. That's more than any other coil company I've seen. Kudos for that. Also noticed they don't offer a Synthetic diesel oil either. Just an observation.

My last two oil changes have been with Castrol Hypuron. It's a new formula. How New? DONO!! it is a Semi-Synthetic Diesel Oil 15W-40. I have used Castrol oil for many years w/o a problem. One of my personal favorites! Castrol USA

Almost all we run in Australia...
Castrol RX Super is most commonly used. Castrol Tection is slightly different, higher grade for Euro Diesels, but Castrol says it is OK for the PSD too.... But routinely everyone runs RX Super... I have for 15 years... And conditions here are HARSH.... Ford Australia does not even import the Motorcraft oil, and recommend RX Super for the 7.3 engines that are common here... Oil dumps about 5000 miles are routine, slightly less actually, most do it in 7500 kilometres. Chheeeep insurance..!! Running RX Super now in my 06 built F-350 4x4 CC LWB DRW FX4..... Regards, from Oz... |

I ran it, intill my last oil change. I liked it the only reason I didnt run it again was we had a 50gal drum of something I cant think of at 1 am, left in the shop. Had no problems

That hypuron is not for consumer resale in the USA, is it? How would one get their hands on some of that stuff w/out buying a 55gal drum?

If you have a local distributor, you may be able to talk them into selling you smaller quantities. Besides with the ever increasing price of petroleum products, it might not be a bad idea to spend the $700 or so for a drum and save some dough in the future.
There is nothing wrong with Castrol Tection. My former employer runs it in over 200 PSD trucks with no problems at all. |

I bought Castrol Hypuron through Tidewater Fleet Supply in a case of 6- 1gallon each.
I think Pep-Boys sells it. Hope this helps! |
