Can you mix Mercon SP and LV

Ok well after ordering the supplies for the trans fluid change i figured out that i should use Mercon LV. I guess sent out a buliten a while back saying change everything to LV and not to use SP any more. In the buliten they said you can mix it but on the bottle it says" Do not use for applications where Mercon LV, Mercon V or Type F fluids are recommended?

Really need someone to say yes or no because i have no clue. Kinda getting mixed ideas on the internet. Thanks

I did not see said bulletin, but I have been told that SP is pretty special and does not play well with others. I wouldn't mix them. I would just stick with the SP but that's just me

Found this:

From Ford Tech Service bulletin Sep/Oct 2009:

Approval to Service ALL 5R110 Automatic Transmissions with MERCONŽ LV

Beginning immediately ALL (2003 to 2010 MY) 5R110 automatic transmissions can be serviced with MERCONŽ LV automatic transmission fluid in place of MERCONŽ SP.

Initially only the 2009/10MY 5R110 automatic transmissions were filled and serviced with MERCONŽ LV. In an effort to reduce complexity, Ford Motor Company is allowing all previous model year 5R110 automatic transmissions to be serviced with MERCONŽ LV automatic transmission fluid. This pertains to top off as well as fluid replacement. Mixing of MERCONŽ LV and MERCONŽ SP in the 5R110 transmission is acceptable. Extensive testing has been performed to insure there are no functional or durability concerns with the use of MERCONŽ LV in the 5R110 automatic transmission.

Vehicles affected are F-Series Super Duty trucks (including chassis cab, motorhome, LCF).

Motorcraft MERCONŽ LV is now available in three sizes:
Part Number: XT-10-QLVC - 1 quart
Part Number: XT-10-DLV - 55 gallon drum
Part Number: XT-10-BLV - Bulk

Further information can be found in the Workshop Manual, Section 307-1, Automatic Transmission

The link in this post is broken. I'm still looking for the exact number.

Ok well at 60k miles i had the hot flush done and replaced with Mercon LV. So now i plan to flush out my self. I have 13 quarts of this stuff and dont know whether to get the LV and try and sell this stuff or just mix it.

Has anyone had problems with mixing them?

I thought it was clear they are forward and backward compatible ??

you can't actually Hot flush yourself within reason and safety
you can do the pan drop plus method
ask for a link if you don't have it or it wasn't already posted

The bulletin clearly says that they can be mixed with no issues. I have done it as have quite a few people here on the ORG and we haven't had any issues. I made the switch at 90k and I'm at 134k now. (I change my tranny fluid at 30k intervals by following the drain and refill method, which only drains about half of all the tranny fluid out.) I had SP in there and at 90k, changed to LV and at 120k drained and added more LV...
