05 Specific upgrades
Well my weekend of working on my 05 6.0 F250 was canceled because of my job, but that’s ok now I can use the money to get a few more parts before next weekend. The stuff I already have is Oil cooler, Hpop snap to connect, Blue spring, Egr delete, Banjo bolts are on order. I want to get the upgraded stand pipes and dummy plugs but I’m having a hard time finding the part number, also is there any 2005 specific upgrades? Like the turbo feed line or is that for the early 6.0, Basically what I need to know is...
1) Part number for stand pipes and dummy plugs? 2) Is the valve cover gasket reusable? 3) What other 2005 specific upgrades need to be done? (yes I know studs )Edge is also on order for monitering Last edited by xu67585; 06-03-2012 at 03:08 PM. |

I think I have all those part numbers covered, along with the '05 MY shortfalls in the following thread:
Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD. Turbo feed lines were a '03-'04 shortcoming, it looks to me like you have the other '05 fixes already listed in your post. As to the reuse of gaskets, I'm not sure if you'd be ok to reuse them or not. It has always been my practice to use new software. Here's a question for you, what are you going to do for the coolant system? Continue using the Ford Gold, or make the swap to a good silicate free ELC. Regardless, I recommend doing the flush while your old oil cooler is still in the truck, before you start all this work. Reusing Ford Gold coolant, you only need to flush with the VC-9 (or Restore Plus) and distilled water. If making the switch, you need to do Restore, and then VC-9 (or Restore Plus) and distilled water. Fill the coolant as the last thing. Either way, I'd also install a Coolant Filter, to get that casing sand out of your system. |
