Bolts n Engine Parts
Were does one find extra engine bolts of any variety? I have no diesel junk yards around VA.
A good source for internal engine parts. lifters, cam springs n such? I was given a job of rebuilding/ putting back together a guys 6.0 that his son thought he could fix. It had a lifter come apart? I know I will be missing stuff Why would a lifter come apart? This will be my first 6.0 engine build, FUN |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that 6.0L block is as good as a real heavy boat anchor because the amount of money it's going to cost you in parts alone, is very likely to exceed the cost of a used engine. So where do I begin? Here's a partial list:
Camshaft ALL lifters Top and bottom end engine gaskets Oil cooler Front cover/low pressure oil pump High Pressure Oil Pump IPR Valve Injector(s) And with all those parts mentioned (I'm sure I've missed some), there's also the very intensive labour involved with assembling the engine. On this particular engine, the camshaft is LITERALLY the very last part removed from the engine block (FIRST part installed during assembly). Would you like me to go into further detail? |

Wow, yeah I have been trying to point him towards a short block.
The Injectors were just replaced, they got the blame for the lifter coming apart? Rivercity Diesel; $1500 for cam, lifters, springs not sure of the mileage on the truck, but change HPOP just because? Send Injectors off get flow tested? no mention of studs If they want too spend the money, I can put a motor together. Might need some advice here n there. |

If a needle bearing came apart on a valve lifter, those parts are small enough that they WILL pass through the oil pickup tube, and into the low pressure oil pump where it will score the pump gears and the front cover surface, which will in turn pass through the oil cooler (where the oil passages are smallest), and rip out that screen under the cooler (if they don't already rip out by themselves) and into the high pressure oil pump.
