Tuner vs. Scanner for 6.0

Hello, Im looking to buy a scanner / monitor today or tomorrow, but wanted to get clarity on the issue first. In my Dodge, I used a Smarty for tuning, with a monitor that had all the vitals. What Im wondering, being a new Ford owner, is there a scanner out there that also tunes. I have read up on both the scan tools and the tuners, but Im not finding an answer to a combined setup. The reason I ask is that while I currently dont plan on tuning, I do need a scantool, and would prefer not having to buy both when a combo unit is on the market. I like what the scangauge offers, but I cant find info on whether there is something like it that tunes when ready. Thanks.

I would not recommend that as only the SCT tuner will tune your tranny along with your engine to increase tranny life

I would suggest gettting an SCT with custom tunes.
And for a monitor get a scangauge2, Edge CS, or Edge CTS

I appreciate the quick response. I am looking at the SCT SF3, will this unit do the same job the scangauge itself does?

haven't heard of one. I looked on scangauge's website and I couldn't find anything that said it reads trans codes. No point in having a scanner that can only read pcm, imo.

Nevermind, I see whats going on here. The SCT is a programmer, but doesnt have an outlook monitor with it. So you all are using the Scangauge as a monitor with your tuners.

Look into the SCT Livewire. It is a combo unit.

This is NOT the best option... People that get the livewire sometimes regret it because the Edge CS, Edge CTS, or the Scangauge2 are "better" monitors combos with the X3...

That is the general opinion on this forum as people had tried all different kinds of options/ combos and it came down to SCT X3 and Edge CTS as the best! For limited budgets, the CS and Scangauge work great too!

Use SCT for tuning and Edge Insight for data. DO NOT use a Livewire... Trust me. It is outdated to say the least
