EGR Cleaning Question
So I finally got around to taking my EGR parts out and cleaning them up. to my surprise very very little biuld up and junk on mine. after I cleaned everything I went to put it back in and as I slid the EGR back into the housing (the hole it goes in
) and it sat a little high. like something was down in there keeping it from going all the way down and meeting flush. I wouldnt be concerned if it wasnt such a pain to pry out BECAUSE it was so flush.so I put the screws back in and tightened it down and it seemed to settle flush. but I'm still worried it really may not be. What problems could arise if its not sitting in there flush? And what can I do to make sure it is in there flush like its supposed to be? |

i ran into the same problem > i took my rubber hamer and gave it a few light taps and it seated fine > remember they are made to be air tight . it should be ok but if u are worried just take the bolts out and give her a light tap with a soft hammer . i hope u didnt bend the plate that the screws go in to ? ....should be fine

If it was me I'd probably pull it back out just to make sure everything is still good. It would sit there in the back of my mind bugging me until I checked it.

see thats exactly whats bugging me. its constantly in the back of my head and the bigger issue is I'm going out of town tomorrow morning so you cant be driving 6 hrs straight with an EGR valve that doesnt fit right

Mine was the same when I put it back in it was just a little high, I just put the bolts in and slowly and evenly tightened it, as far as getting it back out if you feel the need just turn it a little so the ears are off the pad and it should come out with just light a pry. I'm not going to worry about mine I put new o-rings and lubed them hopefully we are good to go.

I agree. Also, I lube the o-rings before re-installing. No need for a hammer ... |
