i have never had any water issues, but my truck is lifted so the chances of water getting in there are very slim. and a little moisture from rain or whatever would not hurt a thing anyway, probably do a little good as it cleans the combustion chamber anyway.

i covered my filter with a towel while doing mine, but i used a grinding wheel and it made A LOT of dust, i blew it all out with compressed air after and even without a screen there is not really much in the way of bugs or big crap in the airbox.

Wow!

I'm glad I asked, that was a great write-up. Thanks Mike! So it sounds like there is an actual zoodad you can buy?

Thanks Again!

there is a product out there called the AirFury. Your basically paying for the instructions & a template of where to cut.

And it also comes with a nice plastic "grill" that goes in the hole.

None here. I was a little worried about it myself when I first did my zoodad. I used a really fine mesh screen to try to help. I'm in the process now of making a new screen with a larger mesh. I wouldn't worry about water, even in heavy rain, and HEAVY snow. I recently drove about 30 miles in some really heavy snow, (almost all highway miles, so I was sucking some air) The next morning I opened up my air filter, she was dry as a bone.

Pic of my current screen
