MPG surprise for a 6.0
Got quite a surprise yesterday from a truck I have owned since new.Its the 06 Lariat SRW 4" lift with 35 tires and 265,000km.Now all the times I drove this truck south empty before the motor was replaced with a stock 04 6.0 with 80,000 km I would only get about 12-16mpg.Loaded pulling my 5th wheel with upto 18,000kg+ or - depending on the trip the truck always ran around 8-10 mpg. Well this week I took the truck for a tour of Alberta (empty)from the great white north here and put on easiely 3600 km.What amazed me was the the truck ran a steady 18 - 20 mpg the whole time with a average speed of 105-110 km 60 - 70 mph.I did the motor swap at about 218,000 km did the egr delete coolant flush and change oil cooler and a coolant filter.I hardly pull with this truck anymore and mainly use it in the winter for hotshots or piloting and did notice that the mpg went up a notch or 2 put this has impressed me for the mpg.Just for info the motor was a 04 and thats all I used from the donor all sensors and electrical was the 06 stuff. Deltas were ECT 193-195 EOT 196 - 199 (scangauge)the entire trip over 5 days.Hopefully when I do the 06 dually (aprox350,000 km) with the 07 motor I got it works the same. Love my 6.0

That's great news...could be a result of the EGR delete.

I wish my 6.0 with a 4" lift and 35s would get 18mpg.... Mine hovers right around 15.5 on the interstate and about 13 in town.

I always get better mileage when I go through Canada.
They dont put all of the additives (garbage)in thier fuel like we do in the here in the States. |

Your ECT are a bit high they shouldnt get over 192 unless you in the mountains or hills.
