Towing report from the weekend
Hi All, towed my 34ft camper about 150 miles each way this weekend from Kansas City to Truman Lake in Central Mo. Going, I ran Matt @ gearhead's 8k tow tune. Coming back, ran unlimited tow. I switched tunes because I was seeing consistent 13-15psi on my coolant pressure gauge which just seemed too high. Running unlimited tow, I never saw over 8 psi the entire way back home. Eot/ect's were 7/8* different whole time and never saw over 1080 egt's. I do run 900-1000 egt's pretty much the entire time towing.
Love the 8k tune's power but like the lower pressure of the unlimited tow tune...anyone experienced similar or have an opinion on these figures? Thanks! Sent from my Autoguide iPad app |

question about your tune
Did you use the tow haul mode with the custom tunes? I'm towing this weekend with matt's 8k tune and I'm assuming that you don't use the tow haul button, am I right?

I have and SCT LiveWire with a pyromiter so I can see egt's, eot, ect and trans temp but I don't have a gauge for coolant pressure. I'm pulling a 32' 5th wheel

I was using tow haul mode, what should I be doing?

I don't know, I'll e-mail Gearheadautomotiveperformance and ask. I don't know if I'll get an answer, in the mean time I'll use tow haul mode.

um......Yes... You should be using Tow/ Hual mode if you are Towing/ Hauling......
What exactly is the question/confusion ![]() Run whichever tune you are more comfortable with and don't over heat your egt's |

I wasn't sure with the tunes since the programs can alter the transmission as well. I didn't know if the tow tune was already setup similar to the tow/haul mode.

Matt from Gearhead Automotive Performance e-mailed me back saying when towing use the tow haul mode. So with a tow tune I'll use the tow haul mode when towing.
