Weird whistle
So my question is about a whistle sound when I pull my fifth wheel. In august last year, took trip to the river. When I have truck in tow/haul mode, cooling fan cycles more often. And I also get this whistle sound that comes and goes. Louder than turbo whistles. Sounds like its cycling something, but not sure what the whistling is. Truck was completely stock at the time. Have turbo back exhaust and cold air intake now. Plus insight cts with egt. (and php ficm atlas 40 tune) (in about a week) so ill be able to monitor things. But I have no idea what that cycling whistle was. Any ideas? Always great info on this forum

Degas bottle cap maybe, but usually not that loud, a bit subdued. Turbo flex pipe maybe?

Flex line .... Like silicone intercooler boot? If its degas cap, .. means blown egr cooler or head gasket failure.. hope not that. Very loud in cab. Do the 6 o's have waste gates? And do they whistle?

The flex line he is referring to is the exhaust up-pipe and y-pipe expansion joints, looks like a shop vac hose. Over time thru heat cycles, the metal becomes brittle and cracks or breaks.
To check them, either look for soot around joints or firewall, and/or when the motor has cooled down start up truck and climb on the motor and feel for exhaust leaking. Here is a pick of the "flex joints"/expansion joints.
