Great Service Department
So I bought an 04 6.0 Lariat FX4 at the beginning of April. It had 153,xxx miles and ran great. Well, a few days later I noticed it was missing under light loads around 60 MPH and was having hard cold starts. At this point I'm starting to think FICM and/or injectors.
The truck was previously owned by the head diesel tech at the Ford store and he was happy to take a look at it. When he hooked it up to the computer, all 8 injectors threw codes. He had an extra FICM laying around that was installed by someone but not programmed to the truck so they thought it was bad. He asked if I had about 20 minutes and offered to throw it in there at no charge.
At this point I'm loving this place, he just saved me a good amount of money on repairs. Well, a few days ago it started missing again under loads on the highway. I knew an injector was getting ready to go so I brought it back in. Come to find out, the #1 injector was dropping off pretty hard. Again, they offered to replace the injector free of charge. Keep in mind, I didn't purchase any kind of warranty and they could have just sent me packing the first time around.
I wish I had the cash to have him replace all 8 while he's in there, but unfortunately I can't at this time. Should I shell out the cash for at least the 4 on that side, or am I just wasting money replacing things that aren't broken?
Sorry for the long post. Congrats if you've made it this far.
