Your advice
My neighbor and I are trying to figure out the best way to sell his truck 04 6.0 f350 crew cab shortbox. 255k miles
The engine is toast one of the cylinders melted to the block. We were looking at 3 options Selling the truck with blown engine parting the truck out or crushing it what would you do to get the best bang for your buck any thing else i should look into before coming to a conclusion what would you recommend it selling for $ thanks every one PS My 6.0 is still running strong |

Or putting another motor in it and keeping it or selling it.

For what it's worth, I was looking for a truck exactly like your neighbor's when I found my '04 F450. I wanted a cheap crew cab with a blown engine so I could swap in a Cummins. I paid $4,900 for mine (161k miles) but the rest of the truck was pretty beat, not just the engine. Turns out the engine wasn't blown after all, so for now I still have a 6.0 with no plans to swap it out and I've changed my focus to cleaning up the interior/exterior to make it a nice family tow rig.
Bottom line, there are people out there who would like to buy it as-is and you'll certainly get more for it than a wrecker would give ya. Good luck! |

I say parting it out will give him the most money out of it, if he has the time and mechanical skills to take it apart. I work at a body shop and a good used bed would bring more money than crushing the whole truck. Not to mention a good tranny and doors, hood, all kinds of stuff. But he would have to invest some time into eBay and for sale forums to make it worthwhile.

Well my advice to him based on your opinions will be to look for a motor and do a swap. If thats not possible sell it as is. I dont believe he has the time or experience to dismantle the truck
