Electrical voltage issue
My truck is an 06 f-350. My battery light will ficker randomly on rare occations. So I have been watching the voltage on the insight and it will touch the 12V range sometimes. I dont think it has touched 12.5V. I pulled the alternator off and that Passed. The batteries are good.
I then took the truck to autozone to have them test the vehicle and it came up with -Voltage regulator diode failure- Im not sure what that means. |

IIRC, it means your internal voltage regulator is shot. When my upper alternator took a dump, it put out 12v, and only 14amps. After replacing the upper unit, 13.8v and 60-80amps at idle depending on the demand.

Yup, regulator is internal to the alternator. Time to upgrade.

That is odd because I took it off to get tested 3 times and it passed. I will start searching for a new alternator. thanks guys!
