what can be expected of stock head gaskets
I have been saving money to buy a miller bobcat.
I began wondering if I should put that money towards my truck. right now I have 104k with no problems, the truck has NEVER been tuned. what can be expected as far as longevity of stock headgaskets on a stock truck? thanks |

Stock head gaskets are fine well past 500 hp. Now the stock head BOLTS are another issue, but if you are not tuned and you watch critical things like temps, boost, etc., then you should expect a long life from the stock setup.

Biggest thing is keeping an eye on the ECT/EOT delta and preventing the HGs from letting loose.
Without a monitor, the 6.0L can be real deceptive. That's the first step, and Edge Insight CS/CTS and get to know what's going on under the hood. That's the only way to have confidence that it's not going to lay down on you. |
