Whats the cure for rough idle on startup?

I just got a f450 bucket truck for work its a 05 6.0 with 190k on it. When u first fire it up it idles real rough and lopes like its got a cam. But after like 10 min it runs smooth as ever. Any ideas? Thanks guys

i plug my truck in with a timer. even in the summer it helps.

Sounds like your truck is suffering from injector stiction. Make sure the ficm has the latest flash with the inductive heating for the spool valves.

check the voltage on your FICM, and make sure you are not running 15w 45 oil.

I think you meant 15w40?

5w40 oil (like Shell T6) will make it run smoother when first started and maybe add some revX if it's still acting up.

And like others have said, check your ficm voltage.

How do I check ficm voltage? I just did a oils change to rotella T-6.

Yep a FICM going bad or injector stiction will both give you similar conditions. Throw some Rev-X in your oil and check the FICM voltage. Check the 6.0 Tech Files section for help with this.

REV-X man!!!! This stuff works wonders! I had that same exact problem in mine. every morning you start it, it shakes badly, has a terrible sound to it like the injectors fire at different times, but then when it warms up its great. I just went to the REV-X site and ordered some of the additive. Its kind of expensive but this stuff is amazing. I use it mostly during the winter when its cold. Like I said its expensive but well worth it and it lasts a while too.
