HPOP differences?

For 04 6.0 there are 2 different HPOP's offered and I am trying to figure out what the difference is can anyone help?

You need to know the date of when your engine was manufactured (or check where your ICP sensor is located). Ford changed the design of the oil rail and how the HPOP connects up.

Ford also changed the HPOP to a V4 piston style beginning in the June 2004 production run - IIRC though, these were for only the 2005 model years.

If your ICP is behind the turbo, then you need 3C3Z-9A543-AARM

If your ICP is on the passenger valve cover, then you need 4C3Z-9A543-AARM

As far as I know there was only one, the swash plate type in 2004. In 2005 there was two, the swash plate type and the piston type. The older type was used in some models like the Excursion.

There are two valid part numbers for 2004 HPOPs - for the reasons noted earlier.

But you are correct that there are only two pump designs

Yah I really hate how Ford used the Excursion as their method of getting rid of all their left over parts.
