Engine Oil

Was just trying to get input on best engine oil to use. I have a 2006 powerstroke with 107k. Baught it with 103k and not sure what type of oil was previously used, no records in truck or window sticker. Was wanting some help on what would be the best for the truck from here on out.

Lot of guys use Rotella T6 5w40 or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40
need to run a Syn oil your injectors will like it. Use only Ford or Racor filter max 5k on the oil because of the shear of the oil by the injectors.
I use Amsoil 5w40 with a by-pass because the stock Ford filter cleans the oil down to 20 microns and the by-pass cleans to 2 microns.
Get a coolant filter to remove the casting sand and some gauges like the Edge Insight CTS or even the ScangaugeII will work need to know the health of the motor, plus a fuel pressure gauge because under 45lbs at WOT kills injectors.

Can you share where you installed your by-pass filter (maybe pics too). I'm running out of real estate under the hood.

I strongly encourage the use of engine oil.

My oil bypass filter is behind the grille so the coolant filter is easily accessible under the hood.

Mobil 1 , Valvoline Extreme or Rot-T6 get my vote. Easy to find just about anywhere.

Rotella T-6 and a Motorcraft oil filter. Add some Rev-X oil treatment if its got a little knocking or rough idle on start up.

personally only amsoil, but i do like rotella t6 also. i would do the 5w40 vs the 15w40.

I am a fan of Amsoil and whatever brand run the 5w40. Lots of guys run the Rotella T6. You can get it at Walmart cheap. $21.36 at my local Walmart. Lots of guys like the Valvoline Extreme Blue also, but I'd stick with Amsoil or Mobile 1. Use the Racor, Motorcraft, or Fram filters.
