New truck what to do first?
Ok I'm buying my friends 03 powerstroke. It's got high miles 237000 and its got 4 inch straight pipe and a diablo tuner. What should I do first? I'm looking to make it reliable first then make it faster. I know its had lots of problems cause he was always fixing it, But I have faith in it. So I was thinking a coolant filtration system and some gauges first?

J/k, really you should invest in a monitoring solution, like edge insight cs or cts. It will immediately tell you what condition your truck is in. Of course this would help if you could know those things before you buy it, most of us find out right after we buy them.

Hmmm.....I have a 96 PSD with 309K on it and still running. I also have an 04 6.0 with 169K that is puking coolant, the deltas are 28*, and the #4 injector is bad. I put about 2k miles on it since i got it in NOV 2011, its been sitting ever since, while i try to save up for repairs.
Good luck.

I know the year is newer, but the mileage is the same. meaning it has been driven more. I love my 6.0, but i think the 2k should go into the PSD you have. I had my truck 2 months before Ford had to put a new motor and fuel system in it. If i didnt have a warranty that would have been 15k. something to think about. that is a lot of miles. think of it this way... that truck could have driven around the worls one time a year with that many miles on it. If he is "always fixing it" it is a matter of time until you will need to completely fix it. just my 2 cents.

Well I kinda over exaggerated. He's not always fixing it. He just replaced the ficm, and a few Injecters. Tranny last year. Hpop a couple years ago and head gaskets
