f350 towing questions
Ive got a 03 f230 with the 6.0 now but i need another truck to pull my fruit loaders from grove to grove. Im looking at an 03 f350 6.0 single cab dually automatic with a flat bed its got 43k and fleet maintenance. the guy wants $5500 for it so im taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out. my question is the loaders weigh in at 23k plus a goose neck. Would this truck be capable of pulling these or do i need a 450? i planned on adding a 4in exhaust and gauges but that's it. and no long distance maybe 50 miles at a time.

it will pull it, not sure about stop it though.
what else do you need the truck for? with that weight PLUS a trailer you are on a tipping point of buying a dually to overwork or a T300 KW, or 330 pete that can be set up to do anything you need |

the trailer has air over hydro brakes so i think stopping should be ok and i wouldnt used it that often maybe once or twice a month

You'll be fine but with that kind of weight you might want to look into a custom towing tune with exhaust brake. You can contact one of the many custom tuners on here and they will hook you up.
Vivian@Quicktricks Matt@Gearhead Eric@Innovative Its amazing the power these trucks can put out with just a tune, for $5500 I say go for it as long as it checks out good at the dealer. |
