Exhaust and Weather
I was looking at Xtreme's website and I saw a straight pipe exhaust and a price that I'm beginning to like.
MBRP Performance Series Aluminized Turbo Back - Single Exhaust S6212PLM (No Muffler) I'm just wondering how this would hold out during the winter or if there's a better system to get? |

I bought the same system along with 5 cans of Rustoleum 1200 degree paint at Walmart. My entire system is a nice flat black color and very weather resistant. Make sure to use a good dish soap to wash the grease off the exhaust components. This is the 2nd time I have done this and it works like a charm. I painted everything to do with the system including brackets, ubolts and nuts. I even heat wrapped the downpipe. I'm going out of town for a couple days but if you would like pics I'll get them to you when I return. Also, research shows that the 3 1/2" downpipe (Included in the S6212PLM system) spools better than a 4".
One more thing. MBRP said to cut the mid pipes to a combined length of 55 1/4" for CC/SB. Don't follow that, they ended up needing to be 58" instead.

They salt the roads heavily here in the winter. I bought an aluminized. I put an aluminized one on my 02 and it held up fine. I work for the power company, and our large trucks all have aluminized and they hold up fine. Honestly, when I removed the "stainless" stock exhaust the other day, it was a rust bomb except for the down pipe.
Aluminized is cost effective enough that even if it didn't hold up well, you could buy another later and if you didn't like the sound or fit of the first one, you could try a different one. JMO. Good luck |

Yeah I'll probably end up going this route then. I just took a look at my stock exhaust today and found a nice, silver dollar-sized hole at the back end of it. Needless to say that was an interesting surprise, so it looks like I'll end up getting this sooner than I thought.
