BulletProofDiesel BETA FICM
*Disclaimer. Its a BETA. Means it can fail. Unlikely but you never know.*
Just wanted to share this install for a 2003 6.0 Build 01/03. Still reporting feed back every so often to BPD and here. Received it last Friday via UPS and found it waiting for me when I got home from work. Nice box size and when opened, it was well packaged with the expanding foam. I finally get a chance to install it today(Tuesday) and the overall install was rather smooth. Also found out some early 6.0 engine differences that did not exist on the others that has done this...far as I know. I removed the coolant tank for easy access btw. Apparently mine has rubber bushing mounted on the stock FICM. Had to figure out how to remove them since the newer trucks apparently do not have this setup. But found out that they are two piece bushings. So pushing out the metal sleeve separated them. Moved them over and went to install on the truck. The harness really was not an issue. They came off with some work and went on rather easy. Heard the snap on all three plugs so they were in. Reinstalled the coolant tank and air filter and intake tube and refilled the coolant. I also changed my Tstat so I had to add more coolant than usual. Started it up and right off it was reading 48.5v and held it. Did some revs to see if it changed and no. Then some quick starts to see if it would lag. It started well each time of the 3 quick cranks I threw at it. Also the startup buzz test was very fast and solid clicks. The old one was slow and sped up as it clicked. O.o. I want to say it felt like it responded a tad bit faster once the turbo lit up but I'll see how it handles from the miles I put on the truck. So far I've seen it hover at 48-48.5 mostly and some 47.5v dips. There is about 30miles on it now. Pics and vids in a bit since they are still uploading. |

Btw when I got out down the road somewhat after the new Tstat opened, I got out and inspected everyting. I even put my hand on it and it was rather cool to touch with a fully warmed up engine.

I could seriously use one of these this summer...towing hay and tractors in the good ol KS sun...especially if it gets as hot as last year! Keep us updated J-rod.

Put over 200 mi round trip on the truck today at hwy speeds and around city at the destination. No issues. This weekend will be the same again and then add south Texas Sunday and the drive back Monday. So racking up miles lol
But kinda raced a new dmax on the drive back and it has been shown I need inj to pass the new 2011 gm trucks lol. I'm owed cookies from pinky still.....😜 |

My FICM is still good, but I'll be ordering one and getting PHP tuning on it.
