I just bought a 2003 6.0L excursion with 94000 miles, as far as I can see it is all stock. I have a question about installing a banks techni-cooler intercooler. They make them for 2003-2004 F250 and 350 but not specifically for excursions. My question is- if I purchase it will it fit into my excursion? And what are the pro's/con's on a high mileage vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes it will fit. Unless you do lots of heavy towing or plan on getting a tuner and making lots of boost I think that money could be spent on more important things like an EGR delete and getting rid of the factory oil cooler. IMO

Believe you me! I would love to put an EGR delete on but I live in san Diego, ca so there are very heavy smog regulations, and from what I have read an EGR delete pretty much means a fail on california's smog tests. Even if I did a "sneaky pipe" the chances are still pretty slim that I would pass. So instead of doing what I would like to do ( EGR delete) I was just going to put sinister diesel's EGR upgrade. Just out of curiosity not that I am going to be doing a lot of heavy towing, but if I was why would the banks intercooler not be a good choice for that application ( you can dummy it up if you want).

For your type of driving it isn't much use. You should use that money to get rid of the stock VERY problematic oil cooler and put in the Bullet Proof remote oil filter and air cooled oil cooler setup. Don’t get me wrong, a Banks intercooler IMO is THE best intercooler out there.

As for not being able to do a delete due to emission checks get a tuner and at least turn it off then turn it back on only when you go in for emission checks.

![]() Intercooler is not where you want to start your mods! Look into: Gauges... (Scangauge2, Edge CS/CTS, or Mech Gauges) I reccomend the Edge CS myself ![]() BPD EGR Cooler BPD Oil cooler Coolant filter SCT tuner with Custom tunes & EGR disabled tunes Exhuast ARP Head studs with OEM Head Gaskets (this items if needed) and an 08 tailgate
