Wastegate actuator switch??

Hey all. I just bought an 03 f250 6.0L yesterday with 102k miles. There is a toggle switch on the dash that I don't know what it is. It's aftermarket and I know it deals with the turbo. I'm thinking something to do with the wastegate but not sure. Here's what happens- when the toggle is up, it runs fine can't hardly hear the turbo. Even at full throttle it hardly takes off. BUT with the switch down, the turbo is SUPER loud and really moves when I step on it and the exhaust sounds like its muffled or something. It doesn't blow black smoke or anything so I'm not sure what it is. Any idea what it could be? I'm sorta new to diesels but not stupid and I am mechanically inclined but can't think what it is. Thanks!

Well the 6.0's don't have a wastegate, it is a VGT turbo. I know there are some morons out there that rig up a toggle to the VGT soleniod for a smoke swith. Look it up on youtube, it could be that.

Well I had seen something about a smoke switch but the guys on YouTube show black smoke rolling out and mine doesn't do that so Im not sure that's what that is. Then again it might be. I'm not really sure. I guess I'm gonna have to tear into it a little bit an see where the switch wires lead to
