6.0 Fuel MPG IMPROVEMENTS
i have a head studs egr delete fuel reg return system intake and 4 inch turbo back exhaust basically all the things that need done too the 6.0
Anyways i just pulled prob about a 5000 pound load round trip around 375 miles or so and used a full tank of fuel and i thought that was pretty horrible..? Is there anything else i can do too improve the fuel mpg? i was thinking a tow tune or a fuel tune? Or a fass fuel system?? if anyone is got any input please say it i need too do something bc i do alot of trips and dont wan blow alot of fuel these days ha well thanks |

That is pretty good when towing. I get that regularly when not hauling a thing and a 50/50 mix of highway and city. Also, my truck is bone stock. I will be getting an SCT tuner and a 4" exhaust and hopefully drastically improve those numbers. I hear that an average of 18-20 mpg is expected after those two mods alone. Although an EGR delete and studs are a great preventative measure, they are just that - a preventative measure. I have not heard of improving fuel economy by doing them.

there have been other "what are you getting for mpg" threads. one thing ive learned. they are ALL different. tire size, mileage, gears, tunes, egr deletes or stock egr, etc, etc all contribute. im running 35" tall mud terrains and get about 13-14 highway unloaded (hand calculated). a guy i work with runs 37s with 3.73 gears also, gets 16-17 highway hand calculated.
and i have alot less miles than him. my mileage doesnt change much when hauling my jeep on a flatbed. roughly 5000lbs i think. never checked, just might have to do that next time im towing it past a weigh station. but when i towed my 17k lb fifth wheel i got 7. thats right, 7. was fun though |

I drive a 2004 F-350 dually two wheel drive with an 8 foot service box that ways in at about 9100 lbs. I'm averaging about 15 mpg.

Fass pumps are junk, first and foremost.
Tuning will be your biggest improvement here. With my dually and 4.10 gears I'll pull 18 unloaded on the highway at 65 and towing a trailer that light I'll run my same race tune and get only slightly less. |
